Art Show 2008

It is not often that you hear comments like, "I feel like I'm in a gallery in SoHo," at a student art show. But the overwhelming consensus of our 2008 Art Show was that it was the perfect combination of a chic gallery atmosphere and a family-friendly environment. For the first time the show was its own event separate from the Annual Meeting which gave students the opportunity to view and share their artwork together with their parents and siblings. Gallery hours were extended from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to allow for visitors to come at their convenience which created a steady flow of people and a constant sense of excitement. The Student Docents were on hand to facilitate the show from handing out exhibition programs, to directing visitors, and even offering insightful commentary on the projects. The show concluded with an inspiring presentation by the Docents who eloquently shared their experiences training at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum earlier this year in front of a slideshow of images from their tours. They were each presented with a certificate of recognition and a ceramic plaque commemorating their participation in this incredible program. Overall the show was a tremendous success, and we were so happy to give our student body the opportunity to share with their families their artistic achievements this year. We look forward to beginning next year's portfolios and continuing to cultivate the important visual arts educations of our students.
